About Me
Hi, I’m Maria! I was born and raised in Sussex County, Delaware where I still live today with my husband and 4 kids. I'm an artist of many mediums including different types of paints, graphite pencil, and woodburning (pyrography). I enjoy creating art that captures the beauty and emotion of simple moments in life. Much of my inspiration comes from childhood memories of local places that hold a special place in my heart. As I am blessed to watch my children grow, I find myself wanting to capture those same little moments that bring us all so much joy.
Growing up, my mom always told me that art was my gift and I should pursue that God-given talent. I didn't really connect with art until I was in high school and developed a love for drawing pencil portraits.
I later began playing with acrylic paint and found that I really enjoyed painting colorful landscape scenes. For several years I had a blast teaching “paint night” style classes, from small private parties in home dining rooms, to large fundraisers with up to 70 participants. As my kids grew, they even got to join in the fun and paint alongside me at events.
Most recently, my husband gifted me a professional woodburning tool which opened up a part of myself I never knew existed. There is something so therapeutic about drawing with fire on a piece of natural wood, and the campfire smell that comes with it is an added bonus.
Creating art is my way of expressing myself and connecting with the world around me, but it also allows me to connect with others who might share similar experiences and emotions. I hope that my art encourages you to slow down and enjoy the simple, yet beautiful, moments in life. Thanks for following my journey. I'm glad you're here!
